Lot 12

A Rare Opportunity for 5 people to Spend a Day with The Household Cavalry
From the moment you step through the gates of their Knightsbridge Barracks, you’ll be amazed at what takes place within.

On arrival at 10am you’ll be met by an officer who will be your host for the day. First up on the agenda is the Queen’s Life Guard mount inspection followed by watching them ride out for Horse Guards. Time for a relaxing coffee break with the officers before visiting the troop lines where all the horse live, then on to see the drum horses. These enormous, glossy, muscled creatures in the stables each with their own unique personality will win you over, you’ll be reluctant to leave them, but time now for a welcome to the forge by the Farrier Major, followed by a welcome to the saddlers by the Master Saddler and then a welcome to the full dress store (uniforms). Finally, there’s just time to watch the Queen’s Life Guard dismount before having a drink in the officers mess followed by lunch with the officers.

Every Household Cavalryman is a fighting solider first – and the troops participating in ceremonial parades are fully trained operational troops who may only recently have been in armoured vehicles, or operating on their feet, in the harsh terrain of Afghanistan. By the time you leave, you’ll be filled with renewed pride for the centuries-old ceremonial traditions being continued, the breadth and depth of skills possessed by the members of the Household Cavalry and their unwavering service for their country.
